We are a small group seeking to reclaim the Feminine side of the Holy One or Divine. We
gather to reclaim the feminine aspects of the Divine in structured prayer that is titled the Goddess Rosary. Prayers
are written by feminist theologian Carol Christ and Sister Miriam Therese Winter. The term "Rosary' refers to the repetition
of prayers as well as the string of beads on which prayers are actually recited. The word itself comes from the Latin "rosarium,"
or "rose garden." During our own "rose garden" session. we include and/or invite meditation, song, unstructuered
prayer, music, dance and art. We celebrate images and metaphors that attempt to embrace the Divine fullness and offer
a witness of holy nurturing and inclusive justrice. Our time together will feature metaphors and images that will enlarge
our understanding of and connection with the Sacred Feminine. Examples which come to mind are Isaiah 42:14 -- "She cries
out as a woman in labor;" Hosea 11:3-4 -- a cuddling mother who takes Israel in her arms; in Proverbs She is is
depicted as Sophia Chochmah Wisdom, "who is there ...in the beginning." and from Meister Eckhart who reassures us
that "God is always on a maternity bed giving birth." All members of our group have already experienced a deepending and centering spirituality as a result of our
participation at Ebenezer/herchurch Lutheran in San Francisco (www.herchurch.org).
